At the top of this episode, I tell a story about when I first realized how importantĀ building a mailing list was for my online jazz education business.

The guy who built an earlier version of my website had put a small opt-in form at the top for people to subscribe to my mailing list.

I didn’t know this was important (I didn’t know a lot of things at the time). But a year or so later, having never sent an email, I decided to look into how many subscribers I had.

I was shocked to find that over 800 people had signed up for my list. Wow! That was 800 musicians who gave me their email address just because they wanted to hear more from me.

Fast-forward to today and I can tell you with analytics to prove it, that my mailing list is how I make the majority of my income.

Learning how to build a mailing list of raving music student fans, delivering value, and selling them higher level offers is probably the most important thing I can teach you.

So in this episode, I go over the basics of building an email list with you. Email is not going to die out anytime soon and it’s still one of the most effective marketing mediums.

InĀ this episode:

1. Why you should start an email list.

2. How to get subscribers onto your mailing list using lead magnets.

3. How to keep subscribers engaged on your mailing list.

4. How many subscribers I have on my list and some of my most important stats.

If I could go back and start all over again, the first thing I would do is start building a mailing list. Sometimes I wonder what my business would look like today if I had started sooner.

If you already have your online music education business started up, but haven’t started an email list, consider this your call to action!
